Day 1: December 8, 2019 Sunday
Welcome to Day 1 of the 12 Days of Kitchen Holiday Giveaway!
I’m kicking off 12 days of holiday recipes and gifts in the Friendship Bread Kitchen. I’m looking forward to hanging out with you over the next few days!
Each day you’ll get a new holiday recipe and a small challenge. That’s it!
Participating is super simple, so let’s get started.
The Recipe
Today’s featured recipe is Gingerbread Amish Friendship Bread. This recipe is the perfect way to kick off your holiday baking. It was one of the first recipes I developed for the Friendship Bread Kitchen, and it’s still an all-time favorite. It’s delicious anytime of year, but gingerbread owns December … everyone knows that.
This post contains affiliate links, so if you click and/or make a purchase, the Friendship Bread Kitchen may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you.
Today’s Challenge
To enter this giveaway, (1) leave a comment on the Gingerbread Amish Friendship Bread post from December 7, 2019 through December 22, 2019, letting me know if you’re a gingerbread fan and if would try this recipe. Who would you bake it for? Have you made gingerbread before? Then (2) come back here and tell me that you’ve left a comment there. That’s all!
One winner will be drawn at random from qualified entries submitted during the dates above. US residents only. Confused? Have questions? For complete rules and guidelines, please check out my 12 Days of Kitchen Kick-off post. The winner will be posted there on December 23, 2019. Good luck!

The computer and and I barely tolerate each other. I have checked out all recipes and commented. Other than that, I haven’t a clue what I did. Ha Ha. The important thing is I want you to know how much fun I have had throughout this challenge. Thank you so much for putting the time and effort into this project. I hope and yours have a wonderful holiday season.

I did leave a comment on the post, but I looked through all the comments and couldn’t find mine after posting. Not sure if there’s a waiting period for it to pop up. Never really used the site before. I don’t know if this one will post, either, but I hope so!

Never mind on this. I can now see both my posts, but only on my computer, not on my phone, which is what I posted on. Weird! An early Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone! Happy baking! 🙂

Hello,
I have left a comment in the Gingerbread AFB post. ?
Valerie Krahe says
Hi! Love the gingerbread recipe. I have three questions about the starter:
1. What temp should the water be?
2. What temp should the milk be?
3. Do I have to separate the starter into 1 cup containers or can I keep all the starter on my counter and use 1cup as needed?
I made the starter and fed it at day 6 and 10. I have not decreased the amount if starter except for taking out a cup for sourdough bread one day and then pizza dough another day. My starter looks great but my bread did not rise nir did my pizza dough. I tried the water in the oven for the bread and the proof feature on my iven for the pizza dough. Help?

Big fan of gingerbread?
I will try this recipe. I have to make the friendship bread starter mix. I just found your blog.
I’ll make this for my sister. We love a little something with our cup of tea. This is perfect.
I’ve made gingerbread before but I used to use the box mix. But always homemade whipped cream.

Definitely going to make this! I used to make gingerbread all the time. It seemed so exotic with a doll up of home made whipped cream and a pinch of dark brown sugar on the cream. I also used to add a turbana do sugar on top for a little bling.
